Bringing the best of French Culture and language to Singapore
As the new French Ambassador to Singapore, it is my pleasure to invite you again to join us for the celebration of French cinema in Singapore, with a selection of 15 movies. For this 3rd edition of “Rendezvous with French Cinema”, organized by the Alliance française, Institut Français and Unifrance, you will have the opportunity to witness French cinema “in the making”. The selection, representative of the diversity and quality of contemporary French cinema, will feature 15 new, unreleased films and will take you on a journey of entertainment, drama, comedy, love, epic adventure, animation and intimacy – a journey that challenges our fast-changing world and our beliefs. Audrey Tautou, Cécile de France, Isabelle Huppert, Jean Dujardin, Romain Duris, Jean-Hugues Anglade and many others will give life to all these stories. In addition, three directors, Philippe Muyl, Arnaud des Pallières and Eric Rochant, will personally present their movies. You will get an opportunity to meet and interact with them at stimulating post-screening sessions following public screenings of their movies at festival venues, The Cathay Cineplex, Shaw Theatres Lido, Golden Village Marina and the Alliance française Theatre. Cinema is a very important part of Singapore’s cultural scene and its development is internationally recognized, as clearly demonstrated by the Caméra d’or awarded this year in Cannes to “Ilo Ilo”, which was directed by Anthony Chen. This shared passion for the seventh art is an avenue for the exchanges between our two countries and our citizens, and the aim of this “3rd Rendezvous” is precisely to encourage this mutual knowledge, through French cinema which is proud of its qualities and which is open to the world.
Bon voyage with French cinema !
